Equipment
EQUIPMENT LIST: Please feel free to contact Susan with any questions concerning equipment. If there are items that you do not have, oftentimes I will have extras to borrow or rent.
___ Tent (Make sure that it is LEAK/WATER PROOF- sleeping drenched is no fun! Tents are available to rent from Nature's Embrace.
___ Sleeping bag rated to at least 20 degrees.
___ Sleeping pad
___ Tarp to go under your tent.
___ Water Filtration System. We will have camp water filter bags, and a couple of portable water filters for the group, but if you have a portable water filter please bring it.
___ Large Backpack
___ Optional blanket for cold (AIRCEE Ultralight Sleeping Bag with Compression Sack, 50-65 Degree packs to Coke can size). Or silk liner to make your sleeping bag warmer.
___ Daypack
___ Flashlight- preferably headlight
___ Batteries for headlight
___ Bandana (serves for sun protection, washcloth, etc.)
___ Insect repellant
___ Sun Screen of at least 30 SPF
___ Sun Glasses preferably on a tether
___ 2 one-liter Nalgene water bottles.
___ Camp Stove – i.e, Jet Boil http://www.jetboil.comPrimus, etc. Please contact Susan before going out and buying a stove as not every participant needs this, and we can coordinate as a group.
___ Camp stove fuel
___ Matches or lighter: Keep in a waterproof bag.
___ Hot beverage cup
___ Lightweight bowl, spoon, fork, or Spork.
___ Pocket Knife
___ First Aid Kit: Moleskin, medications, bandages, antiseptic cream, tweezers.
(Trip Leaders will have comprehensive First-Aid kits.)
___ Essential Toiletries
___ Medications (if applicable. Bring 2 days extra supply.)
___ Toilet paper (bring a few zip-lock bags for soiled toilet paper.)
___ Hiking poles suggested
___ Camp chair, either Crazy Creek type or another lightweight backpacking chair.
___ Moisturizer (coconut oil, lotion, etc.)
___ Watch or another timepiece with alarm. Note, if you bring your cellphone as a timepiece/alarm and camera, then you will need to bring a solar cellphone charger.
___ Hot Hand Warmer packets. Most last one time up to 10 hours. Good for gloves and/or sleeping bags.
Suggested Clothes for Sun and Cold nights:
___ Long underwear or sweats- top and bottom
___ Wool socks (2 pair)
___ Socks that are comfortable with your hiking shoes
___ Winter hat
___ Down jacket
___ Sun hat
___ Swimsuit optional
___ Light gloves
___ T-shirt- one for every two to three days (3).
___ Long-sleeved non-cotton shirt (3)
___ Raincoat and pants (Make sure that these are WATERPROOF!-not just resistant!)
___ Non-cotton pants
___ Non-cotton shorts
___ Closed-toed camp shoes. Croc-like shoes are light and comfortable with a dry pair of wool socks for hanging around the campsite).
___ Underwear
___ Good, worn-in hiking shoes, with ankle support.
___ Emergency vitamin C powder for hydration
___ Snacks such as nuts, bars, dried fruits, and light, dehydrated meals.
Rain is a possibility so make sure to have some non-cotton clothing.

Resources
FOOD: Dinners and breakfasts will be provided. (Five dinners and five breakfasts). When we hike out on the last day, we will stop at a great Thai restaurant in Laramie which will not be covered by Nature's Embrace. Taking into consideration many people's diets, all meals provided by Nature's Embrace will be vegetarian and gluten-free. Please let Susan know if you have other food restrictions. Here are some ideas for what you can pack in for lunches and snacks. We will be going in on a Sunday and coming out on Friday, therefore plan for bringing six lunches and snacks for six days with you.
* dehydrated fruit or meats
* Nuts
* energy bars
* E-mergen C or other electrolytes
* Tortillas and/or bagels and your favorite sandwich makings
* Tuna, peanut, or almond butter in packets.
* Chocolate (though be prepared for meltage!).
* Salami, hard cheeses.
