Premier Wilderness Backpacking Retreat for Women 40 Years and Older- August 1-4, 2024
Presence, joy, gratitude, and beauty will be our focus for our week backpacking in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, in Wyoming's Snowy Range, only 1.5 hours outside of Fort Collins, CO. With nature and your inner wisdom as your teachers, and Susan as your facilitator, women 40 years or older are invited to create a collaborative, compassionate, and fun circle of wise women while surrounded by some of the most beautiful country in North America!
* Participants will be limited to eight.
* Participants are responsible for travel to the trailhead.
* Participants will be provided with dinners and breakfasts but are responsible for their lunches and snacks during the program.
* Participants must complete, and submit NE Medical Forms, then be approved before being confirmed for program participation. We will be camping between 9,500 and 10,000 feet. Hikes could go up to 11,000 feet, depending on the group composition.
* This program is on a donation basis although a minimum of $250 is required to cover group dinners, breakfasts, and the first night's campground fees. We hope that you are thrilled with the experience and reciprocate accordingly. Four dinners and four breakfasts will be provided during our three-night four-day excursion.
So how will we be spending our days?
First of all, I will meet with each person on Zoom before we head out on our adventure, so we can look over your equipment and equipment needs and answer any questions you may have.
When we meet again in person, we will be surrounded by truly beautiful landscapes, with numerous lakes, peaks, and meadows bursting with wildflowers. Our first night will be in a campground close to the trailhead where we can recheck equipment, and have some time to get to know each other around a campfire. The next morning we will set out for our basecamp.
Our days will began with hot beverages, nutritious food, and an hour or two of silence when we can meditate by a stream, write in our journals, or do whatever you love to do as self-care time. Then we will hike out from our basecamp with our daypacks for a day of exploring the Snowy Range! During our day we will be learning/sharing techniques for connecting to nature, working on our vision "boards", doing some art, learning about the local plants and animals, just hanging out and soaking in the beauty. With a return to basecamp in late-afternoon, we may hole up together or apart in our tents during the rainfalls that often happen this time of the year and play cards, read books, or take a well-deserved nap! The evening brings us together for fun and food as we will take turns in groups preparing dinner and cleaning up after dinner. Thus, everyone will have evenings when they can relax and be served and others when they are having fun in "the kitchen", with their fellow camp chefs.
There will be a balance of planned and unplanned time, so that we can all get the full benefit of unplugging, resetting, relaxing, exercising, and rejuvenating in the embrace of Nature and of our awesome cohort!
To help get the full benefit of this experience we will schedule two post-trip Zoom gatherings at one week after and 5 weeks after our journey..
The Snowy Range trip is 2 - 3 miles of median terrain trails to our basecamp, where we will settle in for the remaining of the week. You need not have previous backpacking experience. This is not a survival course, but rather is meant to be a supportive experience with plenty of time to enjoy and commune with nature, our inner wisdom, and each other,
